I’m a huge Battlestar Galactica fan and have been preparing myself for season 4 which is coming up in a couple of weeks. I just finished season 3 and will probably re-watch Razor again just for the hell of it. So far things are looking good, despite it being the last season before the show goes tits up. But stop the press. The Caprica prequel that’s been talked about for the past year or so has finally been greenlit and will actually get made. Yay!
What else? Oh, dustygroove.com got more copies of the MRR-ADM 10″ and I was able to nab another one. Kinda makes me wonder how anyone’s able to really tell if something is truly ltd edition or not. If somebody says X amount were pressed, who’s to say more weren’t made to increasing demand? I mean, if it’s not a numbered release there’s no way to tell if what you have is really ltd edition, right?
New music: Aside from the MRR-ADM 10″ I also picked up some delicious nuggets over the past week which include the new Neon Neon lp, the Jamaica Funk comp on Souljazz, the Obsession prog/psych comp on Bully Records, the Malibu album and the latest Magnificents/Year Of Explorers album which I copped on ebay for $6. The biggest surprise has to be the Malibu album called “Robo-Sapiens,”, which came out in Nov ‘07. This is an 80’s influenced project fronted by Roger Joseph Manning, Jr which sounds not unlike Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Thomas Dolby & YMO thrown into a blender. The guy knows how to write a catchy song and he kills it on the keyboards. He’s also Beck’s keyboard player and has toured with Air. If you like the 80’s flavor of the Neon Neon album then you’ll probably like the Malibu lp. Criminally slept on album.
